The event was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Kazakhstan Zurab Abashidze, the Honorary Consul of Georgia in the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhanat Tussupbekov, Deputy Akim of the Karaganda region Almas Aidarov, the head representative of business circles of Georgia Ivan Chkhartishvili and other representatives of regional and city authorities, economic and cultural elite of city.
Welcoming the Honorary Consul, Mr. Abashidze noted that for many years the friendly relations have developed between Kazakhstan and Georgia.
"Kazakhstan, as one of the most dynamically developing countries in Central Asia is very important strategic partner for Georgia. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, our countries have built trustful and mutually beneficial cooperation, strengthened the historically friendly ties between the two nations, significantly expanded the bilateral legal and contractual bases and trade and economic relations. I would note that from the 2005 to 2016 gross inflow of direct investments from Kazakhstan to Georgia amounted to USD 343 million, "he said.
The event was held in the format of the business forum, during which the discussion of promising areas of cooperation between the business representatives of the two countries was held.
"The Karaganda region today, like decades ago, is one of the industrial centers of Kazakhstan. The business is actively developing in the region, the new production units are opening, new partnerships are being built with the regions of Kazakhstan and the companies outside the country ...Within the framework of the KMG International project, we conduct our business in the territory of Georgia by selling petroleum products and other services under the brand “Rompetrol-Georgia”. Over the years, we found many friends, and we have significantly strengthened our relations with Georgian people, "said Zhanat Tussupbekov, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Georgia.
The main tasks of the Consulate are promotion of cultural, tourist and trade exchange aimed at improving the quality of purchased goods and services received by the population of the Karaganda region. "Summer vacation, visiting historical places, as well as the ecological clean and favorable by all foods and drinks from Georgia should be directly accessible to the residents of Karaganda region," Tussupbekov said.
"Karaganda region, as the largest in terms of territory and industrial potential, is of huge interest for cooperation with the business sector of Georgia. In terms of its economic, cultural, scientific potential, development of infrastructure, the region has a leading place in the Republic of Kazakhstan. In this regard, the opening of the consular post and the appointment of the Honorable Consul of Georgia in the Karaganda region of the highly respected Zhanat Tussupbekov will facilitate the establishment of close ties between the representatives of the business community of our countries, " summarized Zurab Abashidze.
For many decades, friendly relations developed between Kazakhstan and Georgia. Both countries are important strategic partners for each other. To date, Georgia has registered up to 170 enterprises with the participation of Kazakhstan capital.

Since May 2012 he has served as the General Director (CEO) of the KMG International N.V. group of companies, and is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Group.
